This was not the safest place for Alexander Duvolle, not at all. The lake, or the larger picture, the vast expanse of water itself, was the domain of his uncle, Lord Poseidon. And as a child of Zeus, it was frowned upon for him to enter the domain of one of the brothers and rivals of the almighty King of the Gods. Of course, it was more of a pride thing than not, since he was sure that if he asked nicely, Lord Poseidon would let him travel the seas, but only if he asked nicely. It was one thing to let a demigod enter your domain, it was another to let your brother's demigod to enter yours. But of course, feuds like these that lasted for ages tended not to disappear. In fact, feuds like these tended to become stronger over time, if they are not mediated accordingly.
But that wasn't why Alexander was here beside the lake. He was tired, and quite frankly, needed a time for himself. The pressures of everyday life sometimes just gets to Alexander. Freedom, that was something he wanted, but he could never have. Of course, he was as free as any camper can be here in the camp borders, but he always envied those kids who get to go back to their parents. He did not have parents, of course, but the notion of roaming the free world, and not having to constantly look behind was something akin to the forbidden fruit for Alex.
He couldn't complain, though, since he definitely had a great life here in camp. After all, being the son of Zeus, as well as the cabin leader, was a prestigious role. He was a de facto leader, and one of the most looked up at by the younger campers. He had made a name for himself, but he always felt he was missing something. But before he could even fathom, he heard rustling behind him, signaling a presence approaching his position. He didn't do anything, other than remain as if he had not heard a thing, before saying in a calm voice, "I wouldn't mind the company, if you would care to reveal yourself."
