Nightmares were something that didn't come often anymore, but that did not mean that Clarissa, daughter of Athena was any stranger to them. Of the seven years she had been present at camp, she had done quite well with hiding her issues from other people though. Even her closest friends, which seemed to be only two people, didn't know because she didn't tell them and had no plan to. Same with her siblings. However, that was no surprise as she wasn't even that close to them. Sure, she had a soft spot for them and loved them because they were her blood, but her business was none of theirs. In fact, it was no ones. Hence why she had kept it to herself all those years, even when she needed someone to comfort her and tell her it would be alright. The only person to know as her brother, because he had been through it all with her, but Clarissa tried her best to keep him from knowing she still had nightmares or panic attacks from their past. The less he worried about her, the less she had to worry about him. It was a vicious cycle she'd rather not allow to start.
Waking with a start, sweat drenched the girl from head to toe; her heart racing faster than it should be. Her eyes wandered frantically around the room to make sure no one was awake as she could feel her chest tighten with anxiety from what her nightmare held. It was usually the same, holding images of the accident that killed both her parents and left her and her brother to survive. Sometimes it even threw in the many times her and her brother had been abused by their foster parents before she snapped and they ran away. It was just a nightmare, only a nightmare. She tried to calm herself as she sat there, only feeling the anxiety get worse. Yet, it wasn't just a nightmare. It was something that had actually happened and something she would always remember. Not being able to take it any longer, the young brunette threw off her blankets and quickly, but quietly, carried herself outside hoping the fresh air would calm her nerves.
Still, she felt as though everything was wrong; that everything was weighing down on her. Kneeling down, her hands reached up, fingers entangling in her dark locks in anguish. Go away, go away. Please just go away. She thought once again, finally falling back against the cabin wall, now sitting on the ground with her head leaning back against it. Tears ran rapidly down her cheeks as she soon pulled her knees to her chest, her body beginning to shake; her face now buried in her knees. Flashbacks pulled her from reality as they constantly ran through her mind, one after the other not allowing her to rest. The sound of footsteps were not registered, as she was too lost in the images that wouldn't leave her be; the horrific scenes she wasn't sure if she'd be able to shake by herself.
